In 1º Bach we have watched the Netflix documentary called The Social Dilemma. It deals with how social media companies subtly manipulate their users by using artificial intelligence and algorithms and manage to collect personal data that is used to send the most specific adds to each individual. It is interesting to see how former employees of these big companies talk about the lack of regulatory measures in this field.
Students found it very illuminating as they could be one of the most affected generation. Later, we had a discussion where they were all invited to reflect, to give their opinions and to listen to each other. Some students also opted to do some further research in order to expand their knowledge and develop a presentation on the same issue.
